Three Chicks Confirmed at Middle Farms Nest June 3, 2024

A third chick was confirmed June 3rd by the Osprey Cam! While osprey mom feeds the other two chicks, the newest chick can be see popping up briefly in the foreground. The following clips captured some moments from the first few days after the third egg hatched.

Osprey Chick still relying on parents for fish in September

From late August through the first week of September, the osprey chick continued calls for fish at Middle Farms nest. During a couple visits to the nest over these two weeks, the osprey chick appeared to be wet but it is unknown if it succeeded in catching any fish on its own.

In August, the osprey chick aggressively defended the nest at Middle Farms and continued to hone vital skills. By mid August, the osprey spent less time on the nest and during feeding times usually only stayed briefly. They could more often be heard nearby and the chick returned to the camera nightly

In the full sweep of Fishers Island’s history, there is no artist more synonymous, more closely associated with Fishers Island than Charles B. “Charlie” Ferguson. The main show features images from two of Charlie's sketchbooks which functioned as illustrated diaries that were filled with daily activities, nature observations, personal notes, and lots of art—drawings, sketches, and watercolors—in various states of completion.
