Henry L. Ferguson Museum 1109 Equestrian Ave, Fishers Island

Illustrated talk by W. Frank Bohlen, physical oceanographer and Professor Emeritus in the Department of Marine Sciences at the University of Connecticut. The Gulf Stream has for centuries been of interest to navigators, oceanographers and artists. Today, the Stream figures prominently in discussions of climate change. This combination of subjects gives life to a remarkable natural phenomenon.

THE SKETCHBOOKS OF CHARLIE FERGUSON

In the full sweep of Fishers Island’s history, there is no artist more synonymous, more closely associated with Fishers Island than Charles B. “Charlie” Ferguson. The main show features images from two of Charlie's sketchbooks which functioned as illustrated diaries that were filled with daily activities, nature observations, personal notes, and lots of art—drawings, sketches, and watercolors—in various states of completion.
