The last confirmed sighting of osprey from the Museum webcam was September 13, 2023.

The osprey chick getting ready to leave the nest with a fish in its claw on September 10, 2023.

The daily fish deliveries grew fewer at Middle Farms nest during the second week of September, but prior to migration the juvenile osprey could often still be seen at the nest calling and waiting for fish – or heard nearby. It is unknown if the chick began to capture any fish on its own or if the parents were preparing their offspring to migrate and receive fish elsewhere. In the final days, it continued to take nest materials away and appeared hungry during extended stays at the nest – while it honed its skills for eating more efficiently.
