Award winning science writer and author Ret Talbot will read from his book Chasing Shadows – Unraveling the Mysteries of the Great White Shark.

Chasing Shadows, co-written with shark biologist Greg Skomal, frames the return of the white shark to coastal New England waters as a conservation success story. Talbot will address the complex relationship between humans and sharks dating back thousands of years, today’s challenging public safety issues, and what may be on the horizon. He will be joined by scientific illustrator Karen Talbot, who created the illustrations and maps in the book; she will be happy to add an original illustration of a white shark on the title page of any books purchased at the event.

TIME: 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm

ANNUAL EXHIBITION 2023

Untitled
F.I. Sketchbook 2005

THE SKETCHBOOKS OF CHARLIE FERGUSON

In the full sweep of Fishers Island’s history, there is no artist more synonymous, more closely associated with Fishers Island than Charles B. “Charlie” Ferguson. The main show features images from two of Charlie's sketchbooks which functioned as illustrated diaries that were filled with daily activities, nature observations, personal notes, and lots of art—drawings, sketches, and watercolors—in various states of completion.
