On April 1, Charlie had continued his migration north leaving Virginia and reached Maryland mid day. He stopped briefly at Piney Branch Stream, then continued to the West River (a tidal tributary of Chesapeake Bay) for the night. On April 2, he continued northeast through New Jersey and New York to reach Connecticut in the afternoon. By early evening Charlie was approaching the Housatonic River in Stratford.
At that point, Charlie had closed the gap with Edwin from a couple of days to a couple of hours!
