Fish for the growing osprey family!

Osprey dad delivers fish to an awaiting mom and two chicks May 28, 2026.

Special thanks again to Vicki Rafferty who caught sight of the second hatchling at the Middle Farms nest May 28, 2026 – via the Osprey Cam. We checked the back-ups and believe it happened around 7 am in the morning – 38 days after the second egg was laid. We were teased with brief glimpses of movement and eggshell pieces – but eventually confirmed two bobbing heads in the nest! By the evening, we also confirmed the second chick took some bites of fish!

The video clips below capture some of the highlights of the first day of the second hatchling.

MAY 28: In the early morning, mom suddenly leaves in distress and the first osprey chick initially struggles, but is right-side up after mom returns – harassed by grackle.

MAY 28: Around 7:22 am, it appears there may be a new hatchling that mom tries to make more comfortable!

MAY 28: Part of an eggshell is stuck to mom’s claw!

MAY 28: The second hatchlings’ neck muscles are not yet strong enough to hold its head up.

MAY 28: By noon, the 2nd chick was holding its head up more!

MAY 28: Mom attempts to feed both chicks, but it may still be too soon for the new hatchling.

MAY 28: The first chick gets its fill of fish.

MAY 28: Osprey mom steps very carefully around her chicks and the remaining egg.

MAY 28: Mom continues to get harassed by grackle.
