Osprey at Middle Farms Nest ~ August 2025 Update

The two osprey chicks hang out on the nest August 31, 2025.

In August the two osprey chicks at Middle Farms nest took their first flights (the 1st chick flew from nest on August 1 and the 2nd chick flew from the nest on August 12). The parents spent less time at the nest but still provided multiple fish daily. The competition for fish continued and the chicks sometimes took the fish away from the nest to eat, but returned to hang out and rest during the day. The 2nd chick usually spent nights at the nest – while the 1st chick eventually moved to the camera for the nights. Toward the end of the month, the 1st chick started to prevent the 2nd chick from landing on the nest and both chicks often visited nearby poles and spent more time away from the nest.

The video segments below capture some of the activity around the nest during August.
