Before noon, he briefly headed east across the Niantic River into Waterford, but returned to Clark Pond after stopping by nearby Bush Pond and Smith Cove. In the late afternoon, he returned north to the Latimer Brook area for the night.

May 7 ~ Edwin spent the early morning at Latimer Brook in East Lyme, Connecticut. He then headed east across the Thames River to Groton Reservoirs, and then continued south and reached the western tip of Fishers Island around 10:30 a.m., on his way to Gardiners Island.

Edwin reached Gardiners Island before noon and remained mostly near Gaylor Hole through the afternoon. He spent the early evening between Gardiners Bay and nearby Sag Harbor Bay, and the Peconic River on Long Island. He then returned to Latimer Brook around 10 p.m. for the night.

May 8 ~ Edwin spent the morning between Latimer Brook and the Niantic River to the north and Clark Pond, Bush Pond and Gorton Pond to the south.

Just before noon, Edwin headed east across the Niantic River, then north to Willys Meadow Brook (a small stream north of Banning Cove) for the early afternoon. In the late afternoon, he made a brief loop east before returning to the Latimer Brook area for the evening. He spent the night along the nearby west bank of the Niantic River.
