Last September on Edwin’s 15th day of migration south, his data was last picked up near Lake Maracaibo in Venezuela. Recently, it was picked up again further south in Colombia.

On the evening of Feb 12, 2015, Edwin’s tracking data was picked up again in Guainia, Colombia, where he spent the night along the Rio Inirida (a blackwater river). On the morning of February 13, he headed north and shortly after noon reached the Rio Guaviare along the southern border of Vichada, where he spent the rest of the day and night. In the early morning on Valentine’s Day, Edwin continued north and reached Rio Tomo for the evening. Before noon on the 15th, he “went dark” again and his data was not picked up again until 3 days later on the 18th around noon, when he then appeared to be headed back south.

He must have realized it was too soon to head this way.
