The first confirmed sighting of an osprey from the Museum webcam was on March 27, 2025.
The first osprey landed on the nest at Middle Farms around 6:08 a.m. on March 27, 2025.
After a late start this year, three osprey were captured by the Museum webcam at the Middle Farms nest on March 27th. After a little drama, the couple were able to secure the nest and the male osprey wasted no time with his spring remodeling efforts.
The video clips below capture some of the nest activities on the first day.
The first visit to the nest lasted about 15 minutes. In this edited clip, the osprey can be seen beginning to clean out the nest.
In the early afternoon a female osprey lands on the nest, followed a couple minutes later a nervous male. The male eventually relaxes and begins to clean out the nest – until a third osprey makes multiple attempts to land.
In this extended clip, the male osprey can be seen working at cleaning out the nest and bring new sticks. After a brief interruption by another osprey, he returns to resume tending the nest.
By early evening we can see significant progress made by the male osprey on the first day.
