by Megan J. Wolff, Ph.D., MPH, Health Policy Director of Beyond Plastics

Hosted by HLFM director Pierce Rafferty
co-hosted with Fishers Island Conservancy

Plastic pollution is a bad neighbor. Despite concerted efforts on Fishers Island, there is always more washing ashore. Plastic waste is on track to triple by 2060. What are the impacts of these plastics, and what can we do to stop them? In this illustrated talk Michele Klimczak, Coastal Debris Coordinator for the Fishers Island Conservancy, will introduce and summarize the widespread impacts of plastic pollution on the Island, providing local context for Beyond Plastics policy director Megan J. Wolff, Ph.D. MPH, who returns to the Museum to speak about what efforts individuals can make to reduce their personal consumption and exposure to plastics with a focus on the threat of microplastics to your health.
