The first egg was laid at Middle Farms nest the night of April 26, 2022 (About 30 seconds into video) while the male took a nap on the right post. The female then hopped up onto the left post as the male examined the egg. He covered it to provide warmth.
Please note the extra care he also takes to make sure his claws do not damage the egg.
Screen capture by Vicki Rafferty, who was watching from California and first noticed that both birds were on the nest at night — which triggered interest in seeing whether egg laying was imminent.
