April 12 ~ After 3 days on Gardiners Island, Edwin returned to the Connecticut River in the early afternoon. He followed the river north from Calves Island to Joshua Creek, then continued northeast and followed Eight Mile River to the Fairy Lake area of Salem. He ended up at Barnes Reservoir in Montville by the late afternoon and stayed the night.
