Around 7 Am on April 4 Charlie headed from a Waterford home to Banning Cove in East Lyme and remained in the area for the rest of the morning. After noon, he first headed southwest to Gorton Pond, then east across the Niantic River to briefly follow Nevins Brook in Waterford before heading to Fishers Island for the rest of the day. Charlie spent the late afternoon around the west end of the island and the evening among trees on Beach Ave.

Early in the morning on April 5, Charlie headed from Fishers Island to the mainland and spent time in East Lyme at Banning Cove, Latimer Brook, Gorton Pond and the Niantic River. He then headed northeast to Brandegee Lake, Perry Pond and other smaller ponds along Green Swamp Brook in Waterford. Later in the morning Charlie headed north to Miller Pond and Lake Cuheca for the rest of the day and spent the night at Miller Pond.
