Established in the late-19th and early-20th centuries, hotels on Fishers Island reached their peak by the mid-1910s when there were three grand hotels (all with associated cottages), one small medium-priced hotel, and one boarding house. By the late 1940s, only the boarding house and the small hotel—today’s Pequot Inn—remained active.

Pierce’s talk documents the beginnings of all of Fishers Island’s hotels, their rise to a peak of more than 400 available hotel rooms, and their precipitous decline, with a few bumps along the way, to today’s count of zero.

For adults.
