APRIL 12 ~ Edwin was last tracked at Miller Pond in Waterford, CT.
We stopped receiving data transmissions from Edwin on the early morning of April 12. About a week and a half later, we received news from ornithologist Rob Bierregaard, that the CT State Police had contacted him after they found a deceased raptor with a transmitter. An officer was checking out some guys who were fishing and just happened to see the body under some evergreen boughs far from any beaten path, close to 395. After the transmitter was returned, it was put in the sun to recharge, and it has now been confirmed that on the early morning of April 12, we lost him.
Rob Bierregaard tagged Edwin in the spring of 2013, and Charlie in 2014 (who was lost earlier this spring in the Domincan Republic, during his migration north) . Their journeys, along with other northeast osprey are shared through his website blog www.ospreytrax.com.
